This generator was created after a PC druid acquired a lion as a charmed companion.
The lion is treated as a hireling with animal intelligence. It understands a few commands like “attack”, “back off”, “come”, and “stay close”. Otherwise, communication is simply emotional, and the lion stays close if it’s calm enough. If it’s feeling bold, it might rush into a fight even if you don’t want it to, like a dog that sees a squirrel.
This model is probably workable for any companion beast, including war dogs.
