This Web site collects various random generators, mostly useful for tabletop RPGs and mostly oriented towards Basic Fantasy RPG. That’s because I developed them over the years for use with a campaign I started in 2017. Most of them run in the browser based on a JavaScript engine I wrote and wrapped in a WordPress block. The generators themselves are written in a domain-specific language I designed so that lookup tables could be both human-readable and functional. You can read more about the plugin on my personal blog.
Value For Value
Everything here is free. If you decide the content is valuable, I request that you give back some value to me. How much is up to you. I will soon add ways to send me currency of various types. I would also accept donations of time or trinkets if that makes sense to you. Although I enjoy building these generators, getting something back encourages me to spend more time on them.
In this way, I am adopting the Value4Value model as described by podcasting pioneer, Adam Curry. The idea is that any transactions between you and this site are voluntary, unlimited, and direct. Go to the donate page to make a donation.
The Name
In the world of roleplaying games, we often run into the instruction to roll one side-sided die, that common cube found in pairs in every Monolopy box. This has long been specified in text as 1d6 and spoken aloud as one-dee-six. I thought it would be more poetic to say dice instead of dee. It hints at archaic grammar with it’s post-positive adjective, like light eternal or poet laureate. It’s also just seems to sound almost but not quite right, like a misheard lyric.
